OCVTS successfully held its 2025 Open House on February 6th, drawing an unprecedented crowd of 1,786 people across six locations in Ocean County, highlighting the increasing interest in Career and Technical Education (CTE). This event provided high school and adult learners with a hands-on experience through live demonstrations in various fields.

Students and staff at the OCVTS Brick Center partnered again this year with Fulfill, formerly known as the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean County, and RWJ Barnabas Community Medical Center to prepare meals for those in need this Thanksgiving. Over 3,500 meals will be distributed.

On November 19, Marine Service Technology students from OCVTS toured Viking Yacht Center in New Gretna, NJ, gaining hands-on insight into yacht craftsmanship and production. This visit, made possible through OCVTS’s partnership with Viking Yacht, highlights how career and technical education prepares students for successful careers while supporting the local workforce.

OCVTS holds its annual Automotive Career Fair, bringing together over 250 automotive students and more than 25 top companies from the automotive industry.

More than 80 female students from three counties studying construction trades gathered to connect with esteemed female industry leaders breaking down traditional barriers at a networking event.

Ocean County Vocational Technical School District proudly announces the exceptional performance of their state champion students at the esteemed National Leadership and Skills Conference held in Atlanta, GA, from June 24-28.

Fifty-seven graduates persevered through the extremely challenging curriculum and demanding schedules and successfully completed the Practical Nursing program. In addition to receiving diplomas, the graduates were welcomed to their new profession with the traditional pinning ceremony.

The Jackson Campus addition, slated to be completed by September 2025, is a testament to the commitment of OCVTS in providing state-of-the-art training facilities for its students. This expansion will feature four shops, four classrooms, and a new enhanced security vestibule, underscoring the district's dedication to preparing students for careers in high-demand fields in construction and healthcare.

On Tuesday, May 21st, Ocean County Vocational Technical School (OCVTS) hosted a highly successful healthcare career fair at their Toms River Campus. The event saw over 253 trade school students engaging directly with 36 employers from the healthcare industry. These students, well-prepared with resumes in hand, had the opportunity to apply for positions and discuss potential career paths with healthcare industry professionals.

2024 Construction Trades Career Expo, hosted by the Ocean County Vocational Technical School, was a successful event that highlighted the importance of trade schools in the construction industry. The event, held on May 15, 2024, was attended by several vocational students, high school students, the general public, and over 50 key construction industry employers.

OCVTS hosted its Adult Education Info Session on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at the Toms River Campus, showcasing seven innovative and accelerated career training programs designed to fast-track adult students into new careers.

Gert Silsby was honored with induction into the New Jersey SkillsUSA Hall of Fame. The recognition comes as a testament to her unwavering dedication and substantial contributions to the SkillsUSA Association over the years.

One Hundred Twenty-Eight Ocean County Vocational Technical School (OCVTS) students competed at the New Jersey SkillsUSA Championships which took place on Saturdays in March and April in several counties, throughout New Jersey.

The Pit Stop Challenge Finale, hosted by Lester Glenn Auto Group, showcased the skills of OCVTS Automotive students and highlighted the educational benefits of their partnership, emphasizing hands-on training and industry preparation.

It was a fun night of food and fundraising in Lacey Township on Monday night at the 27th Annual International Chefs Night Out. This year hosted at the beautiful Lacey Elks Lodge on Beach Avenue in Lacey. A nice crowd attended & there was lots of food from all over Ocean County, including an assortment of cuisine from the OCVTS culinary students.

The Ocean County Foundation for Vocational and Technical Education, a nonprofit organization that supports the students at the Ocean County Vocational Technical School, hosted its second ‘Turkey Dash’, a 5K and Fun Run/Walk on Sunday, November 5th. The event took place on the beautiful scenic Barnegat Branch Trail in Waretown.

On Friday, May 5, 2023, Six OCVTS teachers were recognized at the Ocean County Teachers Recognition Ceremony presented by the Ocean County Association of School Administrators (O.C.A.S.A).

Hands-on, real-world training is crucial in the construction industry. Stavola Construction Company partnered with OCVTS, giving students the chance to learn on real heavy equipment machinery. This industry collaboration bridges the gap between theory and practice, preparing future professionals for success.

During the months of December and January, GPAA and NJ Legal One teamed up to shoot a learning video for Legal One. Anthony Ciccotelli and Carolyn Little played a huge role in casting and managing crew for the production. Mr. Ciccotelli was instrumental in the script writing and facilitating the entire process. Current students, graduates, parents, staff and guests all played a role in this production.

Veolia North America partnered with the Marine Academy of Technology and Environmental Science (MATES) as part of their Project Sonat Environmental Program. Veolia North America awarded MATES with a generous donation in the amount of $20,000.00 that will allow them to further their conservation efforts with recovering derelict crab pots and to promote and distribute bycatch reduction devices (BRDs) for crab pots throughout the area.
