    START TRAINING FOR YOUR NEW CAREER

    Ocean County Vocational Technical School offers several Accelerated Career Training Programs for high school graduates. These one-year programs provide affordable, hands-on training in some of the most in-demand job markets such as, Culinary Arts, Automotive Technology, New Home Construction, Cosmetology and Practical Nursing.

    All classes are held right here in Ocean County and students are prepared to start a new career in just one year! OCVTS offers Financial Aid Assistance to qualified applicants through scholarships, grants, loans, and Veterans Benefits. The OCVTS Job Placement Office works in conjunction with hundreds of local businesses to provide employment opportunities for our graduates. We offers outstanding career training that is affordable, close to home and prepares students in just one year. It is a great choice for many students.









    TWILIGHT AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY
    10-MONTH ACCELERATED PROGRAM

    This 10-month, full-time program is open to adults 18 and older with a high school diploma or GED. Tuition is $6,500. Classes Begin in September. Students may qualify for Federal Financial Aid or Veterans Benefits. Job Placement Assistance is available.


    ABOUT THIS PROGRAM
    This 10-month accelerated automotivetechnology program introduces studentsto major concepts and theories ofautomotive maintenance, service and repairs on modern automobiles.

    Students are instructed on shop safety and proper usage of tools and equipment, engine repair,engine performance, electrical/electronic systems, brakes, and steering and suspension. Uponsuccessful completion, students are prepared for entry-level employment in the automotive fieldand will have acquired the knowledge necessary to take ASE certification tests. Articulation agreements with Brookdale Community College, Mercer County College, LincolnTechnical Institute, and the University of Northwestern Ohio provide students an opportunity toearn advanced college credits upon successful completion of this program.

    ABOUT THIS PROGRAM

    This program consists of lecture and clinical experiences to educate students to care for acute, sub-acute, chronically ill and convalescent patients. It is regulated by the State Board of Nursing and prepares students for the state licensing examination. Classroom theory and clinical experience are equitable in the number of hours required in the course. Students who successfully complete the program and pass the state licensing examination can find employment in hospitals, nursing homes, industry, clinics, private homes and public and federal health agencies. Curriculum includes the study of anatomy and physiology, nutrition and diet therapy, pharmacology, medical/surgical nursing, geriatrics, maternity, pediatrics, psychiatric nursing, interpersonal relationship in nursing, maintaining records and independent study. A placement test is required for all applicants entering this challenging program. Personal transportation is required. A Tech Prep agreement with Ocean County College provides students with an opportunity to earn advanced college credit upon successful completion of this program.

    COSMETOLOGY

    ABOUT THIS PROGRAM

    This program teaches skills and the knowledge necessary to pass the New Jersey State Board of Cosmetology licensing exam. The skills taught relate to the major areas of instruction including hair services, skin and nail services and business management. In school clinical experiences provide hands-on training. A high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is required and applicants will be required to pass a written examination for admission. Good attendance is critical for completion of hourly requirements to sit for licensing exam. A Tech Prep agreement with Ocean County College provide students with an opportunity to earn advanced college credit upon successful completion of this program.

    ABOUT THIS PROGRAM

    Ocean County Vocational Technical School has partnered with local industry to provide hands-on real-world experience in all phases of building construction.

    10-month, full-time, hands-on construction training program

    Classroom instruction prepares students for each phase of construction

    Students develop skills while building a house on-site, in Ocean County

    Areas of instruction include: Job safety, use of tools and equipment, blueprint reading, related mathematics, framing, sheathing, roofing, siding, exterior trim, exerior doors and windows, insulation, sheetrock, interior trim and doors.

    Students receive OSHA 10 Safety Training and CPR/AED First Aid Training

    The new house becomes the new home for a selected Ocean County

    ABOUT THIS PROGRAM

    The Ocean County Vocational Technical School’s One-Year, Full-TimeCulinary Arts Program, Cuisine on the Green, at the Atlantis Golf Course,Little Egg Harbor, offers adult students the opportunity to pursue theircareer goals in the culinary profession.

    Students receive real-world experience in restaurant operations and culinaryproduction techniques through the daily operation of the full-servicerestaurant and banquet facility located on the premises. Curriculum includesclassroom instruction, culinary skills training and working internships.Areas of instruction include: Introduction to Culinary Arts, Applied CulinarySkills, The Science of Food, ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification,American Regional Cuisine, International Cuisine, Restaurant and DiningRoom Operations, Dessert Preparations, Restaurant Management, Food andBeverage Service.

    The teaching philosophy at Cuisine on the Green incorporates a foundation of ecology, wellness, and responsibility. The use of locally-sourced foods,responsibly-caught seafood and environmentally-conscious practices areessential elements of the program.
