    The Admission Information Session provides an opportunity to tour the facilities virtually, speak with administrators and faculty, and receive an in-depth overview of the academy approach to learning. STUDENTS RECEIVE ADMISSION MATERIALS AT THE INFORMATION SESSIONS.

    WHAT IS A CAREER ACADEMY?

    A career academy is an integrated approach to learning, which lets students develop a career plan and educational pathway, which focuses on a specific career major. Students receive a rigorous four-year college preparatory academic program, which surpasses New Jersey high school graduation requirements and prepares students for admission to competitive colleges and universities. The curriculum is driven by New Jersey Core Content Curriculum Standards. Students are selected from applications through a competitive process and enter at the ninth grade level. Applicants must reside in Ocean County to be eligible for admission. All school districts in Ocean County are eligible to participate in sending applications to the programs. Both MATES and PAA have been recognized as National Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence by the US Department of Education.

    The Marine Academy of Technology and Environmental Science (MATES) is a four-year public high school administered by the Ocean County Vocational Technical School District. The school exists within the community to provide a unique and challenging hands-on learning experience for college bound and career oriented students interested in pursuing a career in the marine and environmental sciences. MATES has been designed to give its students a rigorous academic curriculum with concentration in the areas of math, science, and technology. Students are selected from applications through a competitive process and enter at the ninth grade level. All school districts in Ocean County are eligible to participate in sending applications to the program.

    Middle school students who are considering a future in math & science related fields are encouraged to attend an admissions information session.

    Nation Blue Ribbon Schools OCVTS Marine Academy of Technology & Environmental Science
    The Performing Arts Academy (PAA) is a four-year comprehensive public high school administered by the Ocean County Vocational Technical School. The Academy opened in September, 2001 for students entering the ninth grade. The Academy is designed to provide performing arts curricula focused in dance, voice, theater and audio engineering along with a rigorous college-preparatory academic program. The school exists to provide a unique, nurturing and challenging learning environment for students living in Ocean County who are gifted in the performing arts.

    The Mission of the Performing Arts Academy is to provide an academically challenging education for creatively gifted high school students. Enhanced performing arts training will empower graduates with the practical skills for higher education and/or a professional career in the arts. Our unique teaching philosophy strives to incorporate the arts into all educational areas by integrating curriculum and by interaction with professionals from the arts industry.

    The Ocean County Vocational Technical School District is responsible for recruitment, admissions, and the instructional program. There are over 23,000 high school students enrolled in Ocean County public schools. The Performing Arts Academy is a competitive, specialized high school that select its 9th grade class each year from applicants found within the public and private schools of Ocean County. All students apply and participate in a selective admissions process that considers middle school grades, an admissions test, and an audition in a specified discipline.


    Middle school students who are considering a future in the performing arts are encouraged to attend an admissions information session.

    2020 Academy of Law & Public Safety Information Session

    FOCUSED LEARNING... HIGH SCHOOL AT ITS BEST!

    The Academy of Law & Public Safety is one of the career academies administered by the Ocean County Vocational Technical School District. The shared-time Law & Public Safety program was established in 2001, offering a unique and comprehensive foundation of skills for Ocean County students interested in pursuing a career in public safety. The 2015-2016 school year celebrated the launch of the Academy of Law & Public Safety as a full-time educational program providing a challenging , hands-on learning experience for college-bound and career-oriented students.

    The mission of the Academy of Law and Public Safety is to provide a rigorous theme-based curriculum in conjunction with community and higher education partnerships. Ocean County students acquire knowledge, skills and professional ethics while utilizing the latest technology related to criminal justice.

    165 Law & Public Safety graduates have been hired and/or are currently employed with over 32 New Jersey Police Departments, 3 New Jersey Departments of Correction, the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, and the New Jersey Administrative Office of the Courts.
