    FOCUSED LEARNING... HIGH SCHOOL AT ITS BEST!
    All school districts in Ocean County are eligible to submit applications for these programs. Application deadline for Academy of Law and Public Safety is March 1st.

    The Admission Information Session provides an opportunity to tour the facilities, speak with administrators and faculty, and receive an in-depth overview of the academy approach to learning. STUDENTS RECEIVE ADMISSION MATERIALS AT THE INFORMATION SESSIONS.

    The Marine Academy of Technology and Environmental Science (MATES) is a four-year public highschool administered by the Ocean County Vocational Technical School District. The school existswithin the community to provide a unique and challenging hands-on learning experience for collegebound and career-oriented students interested in pursuing a career in the marine and environmentalsciences. MATES has been designed to give its students a rigorous academic curriculum withconcentration in the areas of math, science, and technology. Students are selected from applications through a competitive process and enter at the ninthgrade level. All school districts in Ocean County are eligible to participate in sending applications tothe program.

    The Marine Academy of Technology and Environmental Science provides a unique and challenging hands-on learning experience for college bound and career-oriented students interested in pursuing a career in the marine and environmental sciences. MATES has been designed to give its students a rigorous academic curriculum with concentration in the areas of math, science, and technology.



    Middle school students who are considering a future in math & science related fields are encouraged to attend an admissions information session.

    2017 Performing Arts Information Session

    Nation Blue Ribbon Schools OCVTS Marine Academy of Technology & Environmental Science
    The Performing Arts Academy (PAA) is a four-year comprehensive public high school administered by the Ocean County Vocational Technical School. It is part of the OCVTS Lakehurst Center located at the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (JBMDL). The Academy opened in September, 2001 for students entering the ninth grade. The Academy is designed to provide performing arts curricula focused in dance, voice, theater and audio technology along with a rigorous college-preparatory academic program. The school exists to provide a unique, nurturing and challenging learning environment for students living in Ocean County who are gifted in the performing arts.

    The Mission of the Performing Arts Academy is to provide an academically challenging education for creatively gifted high school students. Enhanced performing arts training will empower graduates with the practical skills for higher education and/or a professional career in the arts. Our unique teaching philosophy strives to incorporate the arts into all educational areas by integrating curriculum and by interaction with professionals from the arts industry.

    The Ocean County Vocational Technical School District is responsible for recruitment, admissions, and the instructional program. There are over 23,000 high school students enrolled in Ocean County public schools. The Performing Arts Academy is a competitive, specialized high school that select its 9th grade class each year from applicants found within the public and private schools of Ocean County. All students apply and participate in a selective admissions process that considers middle school grades, standardized test scores, an admissions test, and an audition in a specified discipline.

    2016/2017 Academy of Law & Public Safety Information Session

    Academy of Law & Public Safety
    FOCUSED LEARNING... HIGH SCHOOL AT ITS BEST!

    The Academy of Law & Public Safety is one of the career academies administered by the Ocean County Vocational Technical School District. The shared-time Law & Public Safety program was established in 2001, offering a unique and comprehensive foundation of skills for Ocean County students interested in pursuing a career in public safety. The 2015-2016 school year celebrated the launch of the Academy of Law & Public Safety as a full-time educational program for high school juniors and seniors, providing a challenging , hands-on learning experience for college-bound and career-oriented students.

    OCVTS is now expanding ALPS enrollment and offering admission to incoming sophomores, as well as incoming juniors, for classes that begin September 2017.

    The mission of the Academy of Law and Public Safety is to provide a rigorous theme-based curriculum in conjunction with community and higher education partnerships. Ocean County students acquire knowledge, skills and professional ethics while utilizing the latest technology related to criminal justice. According to Academy of Law and Public Safety Records Since 2008: 257 students graduated from the program, 223 (87%) have gone on to college, 21 (8%) have gone on to military (all branches), 13 (5%) have gone directly to work.

    165 Law & Public Safety graduates have been hired and/or are currently employed with over 32 New Jersey Police Departments, 3 New Jersey Departments of Correction, the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, and the New Jersey Administrative Office of the Courts.

    The Ocean County Vocational Technical School District is responsible for recruitment, admissions, and the instructional program.
