    OCEAN COUNTY VOCATIONAL TECHNICAL SCHOOL'S PASTRY ARTS STUDENTS WIN PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARD

    OCVTS Pastry Arts students are the People's Choice.
     

    OCEAN COUNTY, NEW JERSEY The Ocean County Vocational Technical School's (OCVTS) Pastry Arts students took first place honors as the People's Choice for their display of culinary delights at the 16th Annual International Chef's Night Out sponsored by the Ocean County Foundation for Vocational Technical Education.

    This year over 50 area restaurants and vendors participated; with over 700 in attendance. For the $50 admission fee guests sample an extensive variety of sweet and savory delicacies as well as some of the area's fine wines and beverages. Guests could then cast their votes for their favorite foods and displays.

    The OCVTS Pastry Arts program delighted guests with an assortment of petit fors, pastries, cakes and beautiful sugar art. Additional winners for the People's Choice Awards included Saker Shoprite/World Class Patisserie and 709 Restaurant from Point Pleasant Beach.

    In addition OCVTS Culinary Arts students from the Brick and Waretown Centers provided delectable assortments of Italian and French cuisines.

    Chef's Night Out is the largest fundraising event of the year for the Foundation. In addition to admission, a 50/50 raffle was held and the winning ticket was announced near the end of the evening's festivities. Jennifer McEwan, of Brick , won $6,755. Ms. McEwan, attended the March Foundation meeting to accept 'the big check' and commented, "I am a hospice nurse and I have returned to school to become a Nurse Practitioner. This money will certainly come in handy."
