OCEAN COUNTY, NJ- “My husband learned his skills in high school and that training provided him with many opportunities throughout his lifetime. He began his career manufacturing precision parts for B-25 bombers during World War II. He served his country proudly,” said Molly Jezek of Pine Beach, as she recounted the achievements of her late husband Albert J. Jezek. “Later on he opened a machine shop , Jezek Tool & Machine, in Elizabeth, New Jersey. He operated his business for over 35 years and provided well for our family.”

Mrs. Jezek was eager to share her husband’s life story with students at Ocean County Vocational Technical School. She had come to present scholarships to three deserving students to honor her husband’s memory. Mrs. Jezek contacted OCVTS because she felt it was fitting tribute to “help young students further their education in a trade.” She received several scholarship applications and “was impressed by their ambitions.”

Receiving the Albert J. Jezek Memorial Scholarship were: Edward Knyff, of Ocean Gate and Evan Mathiesen of Cream Ridge, both from the Aviation/Aerospace Technology Program at the OCVTS Lakehurst Center, and Jake Gifford of Bayville from the Welding Program at the OCVTS Toms River Center. Each student received $1000 to use for college. Edward and Evan will both be attending the Pennsylvania College of Technology, in Williamsport to study Aviation Maintenance Mechanics. Jake will be attending the Automotive Training Center , also in Pennsylvania.

Mrs. Jezek concluded, “Realize that the skills and knowledge that you learn along the way will give you the confidence to follow your dreams.”
