CASUAL FRIDAY FOR A GREAT CAUSE
Jean Sullivian, September 5, 2007
Ocean County– Ocean County Vocational Technical School (OCVTS) recently participated in the “Lee National Denim Day”.
This program, sponsored by Lee Jeans, is one of the largest single-day fundraisers devoted to the fight against breast cancer. Since its inception in 1996, Lee Denim Day has raised over 66million dollars which is used for treatment research and community breast cancer education services nationwide.
On October 5th, OCVTS held its In-Service Professional Development Day at the MATES campus in Manahawkin. All OCVTS staff and faculty were invited to wear their favorite denim jeans and pink shirts. Donations, made that day in excess of $800., were forwarded to the Lee Denim Day foundation.
“Considering the fact that “Lee Denim Day” fell on a day that we were all gathered together (for the In-Service program), it was a great occasion for us to share in the time-honored OCVTS ‘family’ spirit and unite for a great cause.”, commented Nancy Weber-Loeffert, OCVTS Assistant Superintendent.
The fundraising efforts were spearheaded by Quick Print Graphics Instructor Lee Ann Voss, with assistance from Office Support Services Instructor Betty Walford-Coleman, and Cosmetology Instructor Roseann Blanchard.
