    Information for Applicants
    The Academy of Law and Public Safety is a public high school program administered by the Ocean County Vocational Technical School District. The Academy of Law and Public Safety is designed to offer its students a full-time educational program providing a challenging , hands-on learning experience for college-bound and career-oriented students. The shared-time Law & Public Safety program was established in 2001, offering a unique and comprehensive foundation of skills for Ocean County students interested in pursuing a career in public safety. The full-time academy was established in 2015.

    Students are selected from applications through a competitive process and enter at the ninth grade level. Applicants must reside in Ocean County to be eligible for admission. All school districts in Ocean County are eligible to participate in sending applications to the program.

    Applicants will be ranked using the following criteria: academic grades, attendance, and entrance exam score.

    The student’s resident district will be responsible for transporting the student to the Academy of Law and Public Safety.


    The school day begins at 7:30 A.M. and ends at 1:43 P.M. The classes are scheduled in block time similar to a typical college program. Each semester students receive a different schedule.
